2. To the Manor Adopted

It was reported by the international press in October that Hollywood film star, George Clooney and his new bride, Amal, have adopted a 4- year-old abandoned Basset Hound bitch called Millie, from the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society, in California, USA.

Apparently, the couple had specifically wanted a Basset Hound and joined a long list of celebrity owners of the past*. They just turned up at the rehoming shelter unannounced, after searching its website. They had brought along with them Louie, a Spaniel, who had also been rescued, and the two dogs got along together very well - so the decision to have Millie was made.

I understand that since getting married the Clooneys have bought a large Thames-side property - Amal is a respected British, Human Rights lawyer - so, I suppose, it is possible that Millie could accompany her new guardians to the U.K.

I know they would all be most welcome should they ever decide to turn up to one of our Club walks. No doubt the number of female BHOC members would swell! Actually, I think Amal also seems very pleasant too, and really awfully nice.

And, as for Millie, who was discovered scavenging for food outside a city restaurant, she seems to have won life's lottery, for a Basset Hound!

* George Washington, Napoleon III, Marilyn Monroe, Rex Harrison, Clint Eastwood, Brigitte Bardot, to name just a few.
