Rosie - a tribute
by Sue & Terry Sampson

In 2000 a very special red and white girl was born, her name was Rosie. I was told by a very good friend, “Do not get a red and white (our first) and whatever you do - do not call her Rosie”. I did not understand her and ignored her completely.
I was later to realise that red and white dogs are in our opinion completely different - bossy, stubborn, always right, and wanting to be first every time. Always in charge with all dogs - but I know you will be saying all Bassets are like that. But, we found she was so much more a presence in our house than any other dog we have had before.
We loved her so much and we are obviously missing her loads, but at least we do have wonderful memories of her that make us laugh and, yes, sometimes cry.Because in September 2011, as you have now realized, aged eleven and a half, she died. She has gone to meet our previous six Bassets and other Bassets that have gone before her. I bet she is making herself known.
Night-night, my darling.
