FUN DAY☆ 2008

The branch’s 40th anniversary Fun Day took place at the Lloyd Hall, Outwood on 17th August 2008.

After a week of very mixed weather, we were lucky to go through the afternoon free from the threatened rain, in fact, at times the sun shone down on the proceedings.

Pam and Sue in competition it could have been the Bird’s Nest stadium.

We were joined by Wendy and Alan Wakefield who had valiantly driven from Dorset and Sally Money who had come from distant Essex.

After Brian’s opening address, the games and races began, with Frankie ‘controlling’ events. The competitive zeal of certain hounds and handlers would not have been out of place in Beijing.

The sausage race seemed very popular with the hounds and a race that involved handlers putting on t-shirts, scarves and hats provided some laughs for the spectators and improved a few people’s dress sense!

After a buffet lunch, Veronica Ross, our esteemed invited judge, assisted by steward, Jean, began the classes. There was a large entry in some classes and some strong competition. All the finalists were awarded special rosettes and diplomas.

Roy, Chris & Barney - both delighted at coming second - and Sally
