BROADSTONE CAR PARK WALK☆ Ashdown Forest:
23rd February 2014 Jean Miller

It wasn’t a bad forecast for today’s walk, dry at least, but quite windy.

Frankie and Tony kindly picked up Cass and myself and we arrived at Broadstone car park in good time. We were very pleased to see a large number of members gathering. We thanked everyone for their continued support in our new venture.

We had a total of thirty-three Bassets and three honoraries, keeping up with our previous numbers. Derek had brought Hope and Dill on his own, Miranda had some problems with her foot which was causing much pain when she walked.

From the start was very, very, muddy. After about ten minutes I decided it was too heavy going for me, so turned back to the car park. Cass was left in the capable hands of Sue, who really had her hands full, having three of her own and one ‘boarder’ with them.

I met up with Roger, also returning, and then Terry joined us. So we had a nice chat putting the ‘world to rights’ while waiting for everyone to return.

When they did they looked decidedly muddy. It was really welly weather.

We had some new members walking for the first time and I hoped that the bad conditions will not put them off attending future adventures with us - it does get better later in the year (sometimes).
